110 years. Precision, people, and progress

Palbit 110th anniversary banner — from Palhal mining origins to a global cutting tools manufacturer

From Palhal to Palbit

What started as a mining operation - extracting lead sulphide and producing hard metal tools - grew steadily over the following decades. In 1941, Palbit joined the SAPEC Group and expanded into Rock Tools, dedicated to mining drilling equipment.

By 1952, the company had installed its own production lines for tungsten powders and carbide blends, laying the foundation for what would become its cutting tools business.

In 1956, the trademark Palbit was officially registered - a name to eternalize our origin: Pal, from Palhal, the place where it all started, and Bit, from the mining tools, that shaped us from the start.

This year, Palbit celebrates 110 years since its founding in Palhal in 1916, where the company’s story began under the name Minas e Metalurgia.

110 Years

A milestone that honors our past and drives us forward, as we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of manufacturing through continuous innovation.

To mark its 110th anniversary, Palbit is sharing the stories of people who helped build this legacy - from its earliest days in Palhal to the global manufacturer it is today.

Watch our anniversary video for a glimpse into their stories and their view of Palbit.

A Culture of Belonging

Behind every milestone is something less measurable: the people who built it. Many of Palbit's employees have been part of the company for more than 25 years, some following in the footsteps of parents and grandparents who worked there before them.

A sense of belonging that brought colleagues closer to family, a culture built on proximity as much as on precision.
