Project I&D - DHardTools

The DHardTools project aims to develop hard metal tools with functional diamond linings for micromachining ultra-hard materials. The development of this product presents as an innovation the possibility of extending the field of application of diamond-coated tools and the monitoring of the micro-machining process.

For this purpose, the introduction of boron in the diamond structure will be investigated to increase the toughness and process a temperature sensor. Controlling the micromachining process through temperature monitoring will increase the lifetime of precision coated diamond tools. On the other hand, these tools can be used in micromachining without the use of lubricant, in order to be economically and environmentally more feasible.
